The Fairy’s Sanctuary
The Giane collection is a tribute to the sacred link between nature and ancient folklore. Named after the protective fairies of Sardinian mythology, this piece evokes a time when trees were considered the earthly homes of divinities.
The Concept: In ancient cultures, the beech tree was the “Tree of the Mother Goddess,” a symbol of wisdom and patience. According to legend, fairies dance beneath its canopy, protecting the groves where they dwell. The Giane table captures this ethereal presence, turning a fragment of the forest into a monumental work of art.
The Materials: The heart of this creation is a rare slice of a purple beech trunk, selected by Emmanuel for its fantastic, almost otherworldly silhouette. The wood’s natural geometry is expanded and elevated by a surface of engraved aquatinted maillechort .
The Craftsmanship: Emmanuel exploits the organic “faults” and textures of the beech, using them as a map for his engravings. The cool, lunar brilliance of the maillechort contrasts with the deep, warm soul of the ancient wood, creating a dialogue between the biological and the mineral.
The Vision: Designed as a large-scale coffee table, Giane is a functional altar to femininity and creation. It is a unique piece that brings the quiet majesty of the forest and the magic of ancient beliefs into the contemporary interior.
