The Tribal Black Board is a monumental dining table that evokes the dawn of humanity and the first marks left by man upon the world. It is a work inspired by “Tribal Vision”—a reflection on how our presence materialises through the dualities of the traces we leave behind.

The Concept: Inspired by the genesis of the world, this piece explores the idea of the “fingerprint” as a universal symbol. It represents a jungle of organic forms where vegetable cells and ancestral markings meet, creating a surface that transcends daily experience to become a mystical map.

The Materials: The table is crafted from blackened oak wood, providing a deep, charcoal-like density that serves as a primitive canvas. This dark, textured base is struck with intricate inlays of engraved maillechort, creating a stark, celestial contrast.

The Craftsmanship: Using the signature aquatint etching process, Emmanuel covers the surface with “structured anarchy.” The hand-engraved linework mimics both the complexity of plant life and the intentionality of ancient tribal art. Every line is a unique imprint, making the table an absolute one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
