The Atypical Elegance
The Rocinante console is a piece of immense character that defies the conventions of classical furniture. Inspired by Don Quixote’s legendary steed, it embodies a unique kind of nobility—both raw and sophisticated—appearing as if ready to leap across space.
The Concept: Rocinante is a celebration of the atypical. Its dynamic silhouette evokes movement and resilience. It does not seek perfect symmetry, but rather the precision of a sculptural line. It transforms a functional object into a modern totem, simultaneously proud and ethereal.
The Materials: The body of the console is crafted from a massive aeronautical alloy. This high-tech material, prized for its lightness and extreme strength, is hand-sculpted from the solid block. Inlays of engraved aquatinted maillechort punctuate the structure, adding precious detail and narrative depth to the piece.
The Craftsmanship: Rocinante is the result of a complex manufacturing process. The massive alloy is first shaped through “direct carving,” a demanding technique requiring total spatial vision. Emmanuel Jonckers then integrates his signature engravings, creating a contrast between the power of the metallic frame and the microscopic finesse of the etched patterns.
The Vision: An absolute unique piece, the Rocinante console is designed for interiors that dare to be different. It stands as a centerpiece—a metal sculpture that captures both light and imagination, offering a presence that is both robust and dreamlike.
