The Florio pedestal table is a work of precision designed to punctuate a space with a touch of mineral light. In this more intimate format, every detail of the engraving and every nuance of the stone takes on paramount importance, transforming this functional object into a true interior jewel.

The Concept: Florio explores the notion of refinement within compactness. The idea is to create a focal point where the eye can linger on the complexity of the textures. The Materials: The top is carved from starred metamorphic shale stone, whose dark reflections and natural pyrite inclusions create a fascinating depth. It is enhanced by inlays of engraved aquatinted maillechort. The silvery brilliance of the maillechort awakens the stone, creating a chromatic contrast of great elegance.

The Craftsmanship: Despite its smaller size, Florio requires absolute technical mastery. Emmanuel Jonckers employs the aquatint etching technique to create organic reliefs that seem to vibrate on the metal’s surface. The fitting of the maillechort into the shale is executed with goldsmith-like precision, offering a perfectly flush surface that is smooth to the touch.
