The Flow of Rebirth

The Aquarius table is a celebration of fluidity and survival. Inspired by the myth of Deucalion — the son of Prometheus who navigated the waters of the flood to preserve the spark of humanity — this piece embodies a rebirth where matter appears to flow freely through the heart of the stone.

The Concept : Aquarius explores the idea of perpetual motion. The metallic inlays are not merely geometric lines but currents irrigating the stone. It is a vision where metal, like precious water, fills the rifts of the shale to reveal a hidden universe—stable yet brimming with life.

The Materials : The top is carved from starred metamorphic shale stone, an intense black stone whose natural inclusions evoke a night sky after a storm. It is elevated by inlays of engraved aquatinted maillechort. The silvery radiance of the maillechort provides an aquatic clarity and a luminous vibration that contrast with the mineral density.

The Craftsmanship : The strength of Aquarius lies in the dynamism of its engraving. Emmanuel Jonckers works the maillechort to give it a structured relief that catches light like ripples on water. Each incision is a trajectory—a path hand-etched to turn this table into a moving sculpture, perfectly flush and smooth to the touch.
