The Arrow of Light
The Sagitarius table is a work of sovereign elegance, blending the depth of the mineral world with the lunar clarity of metal. Noted by The New York Times as a centrepiece in world-class interiors, it embodies a bridge between history and contemporary narrative.
The Concept: Inspired by the Archer Centaur of ancient tradition, the Sagitarius collection evokes precision and direction. The core idea is to reveal, within the stone, a universe of hidden metallic structures—as if the metal were a precious sap flowing through the veins of the rock. It is a sensory journey to the heart of fundamental elements.
The Materials: The tabletop is crafted from starred metamorphic shale stone, an intense black stone whose natural inclusions recall a night sky. This mineral base is elevated by inlays of engraved aquatinted maillechort, whose silvery brilliance pierces the stone like arrows of light.
The Craftsmanship: Integrating maillechort into shale is a feat of extreme precision. Emmanuel Jonckers employs his signature etching technique to give the metal a structured relief, creating a striking tactile contrast with the smooth, cool surface of the stone. Light dances across these reliefs, animating the table throughout the day.
The Vision: Versatile by design, Sagitarius can be configured as a majestic dining table or a coffee table depending on the legs. Its pedigree—from international press mentions to its presence in historic French châteaux—makes it a timeless collector’s piece, capable of holding a dialogue with 18th-century antiques and avant-garde design alike.

The grand salon is a pastiche of periods: from the 18th century, the Louis XV chairs, sofa and six chandeliers; from the 19th century, the Savonnerie carpet; and from the 20th century, the Jansen consoles, a daybed by the sculptor Étienne Hajdu, a Hiquily bronze armchair designed for Henri Samuel and a contemporary low table by Emmanuel Jonckers.
