Elemental Strength

The Heraclès table is a tribute to power and permanence. Taking its name from the mythological hero known for his legendary strength, this piece commands a monumental presence, transforming raw stone into a work of high precision.

The Concept: Heraclès explores the notion of absolute solidity. The core idea is to confront the immutable mass of the rock with human intervention, symbolised by luminous metallic incisions. It is a piece that evokes terrestrial grounding—a visual anchor capable of structuring a space through its mineral intensity alone.

The Materials: The tabletop is carved from a block of starred metamorphic shale stone. This deep, textured black stone appears to carry the traces of time within it. It is elevated by inlays of engraved aquatinted maillechort, whose lunar radiance pierces the density of the stone, creating points of light and vibration.

The Craftsmanship: The table demonstrates exceptional technical mastery in joining heterogeneous materials. Emmanuel Jonckers uses his signature etching technique to structure the maillechort, creating reliefs that echo the natural strata of the shale. The precision fitting of the inlays gives the illusion that the metal has fused with the stone over millennia.
